I'll
be brief. My music is played on a National resonator guitar.
I perform as a solo act.
My repertoire includes early vintage blues by the
likes of Blind Lemmon Jefferson, Bukka White, Robert Johnson
(1930's- 40's style). I also include some original songs plus some
1930's and 40's calypso that are in keeping with the musical integrity
of the era.
Expect a performance that is rather high spirited, played
acoustically, finger style with slide. My voice, guitar, and feet
are miked through a sound system. I suspect you will find my
performance a refreshing surprise, a bit historic, but every
bit as driving as today's music---exposing the underpinnings to most of
today's blues style playing.
School lyceums are most beneficial for high school students , concert
bands, and those students with an abiding interest in music.
Bills delivery will tend to spark the students interest in the roots of
where
their music came from and how it developed. He will expound
on "Its not
important what instrument you play, but, how you play it!"
Bill will also give a brief history of the development of the
resonator
guitar and how it became the ethnomusicological bridge between
four
distinct cultures in the Americas.
He will also deconstruct much of what he performs, often stopping mid
phrase to explain what's going on both lyrically and musically.
Students
will connect with what is being presented.
If you are in need of musical raconteur in the near future, don't
hesitate to give a call. (He's affordable)
